Tips for Weight Loss
With an aging population, one area of concern by the health care community in general in North America is the rising levels of obesity and how people go about utilizing various Weight loss programs. According to Wikipedia, is a reduction of the total body weight, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. There are no short cuts to weight loss because its all about balance in how you approach your own situation. Too many people want instant weight loss without really considering the overall picture to their health.
It is a fact, that much of the human body consists of water. One needs to take care that your weight loss program is not one that temporarily depletes the volume of water in your body or you risk suffering from dehydration and damaging your kidneys. It is much healthier to reduce the amount you eat and take up some form of exercise, walking or going to the gym to help burn off excess calories. So remember to always drink plenty of water.
I am quite amazed that as much over half of Americans are overweight and Europeans are fast catching up? This caused by the availability of fast foods or is this a warning sign for diabetes. Women naturally are the first to be concerned about putting on weight. Weight loss programs however work for both sexes. Find a program that is safe and effective with the help of your health care provider. If you choose to start one without your doctor’s knowledge, then make sure you do not have any medical problems because you could harm yourself more than help yourself.
All one needs to go online and you will literally find hundreds of weight loss programs in the market place today. A weight loss program may include taking pills to help improve the body’s metabolism, drinking shakes as meal replacement, exercise and other lifestyle changes. The modern world can be stressful and it is common for people under stress to eat more. If one can reduce stress, you will reduce the intake of comfort food which will help with weight loss.
One type of program to avoid is one that promotes sudden weight loss. This should be cause for concern unless you are dieting as it could mark the onset of cancer of the pancreas, stomach or gall bladder, if you lose more than 10% of your weight in six months or 5% in a few weeks you need to consult your doctor.
I always suggest you check with your health care provider if you are an overweight or obese person before starting any kind of weight loss program. The primary reason is because the person could be suffering from hypothyroidism where the thyroid gland is not producing enough hormones to burn of energy produced as a result of food intake. Remember, take it slow, one day at a time.
