Are you having problems with your Weight Loss?

Some conservative recent studies suggest that over 60% of the US population is now over weight. That has huge ramifications on almost every aspect of our society. Think about that for a moment. As people become increasingly unhealthy, they take more time off work, less productive depending on the type of work and of course the impact on the health care industry. You would think we could figure this problem out, wouldn’t you? There’s something staring us right in the face and we don’t see it. No one seems to be concerned enough to lose weight. To me, the problem is as obvious as the nose on our face. It’s all about what the food industry is doing to us. They offer us processed foods loaded with fats, sugar and salt. They use chemicals to change our food. It is altered through additives such as flavors, flavor enhances, binders, colors, fillers, preservatives, stabilizers, etc. To make a long story short, we no longer eat natural food. If you don’t believe me, check it out and do some of your own research on Google.

The basic problem right now from my research, most people consume a diet exclusive in processed foods will almost certainly lead to disease such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, premature aging, and hypoglycemia. These countless diseases exist because chemically-synthesized substances disrupt the biochemistry of hundreds of billions of microscopic living cells which make up the body. Some of these diseases cause weight gain and is another reason to lose weight. So start by educating yourself and make an informed decision.

Look at the facts. Our bodies are designed to eat natural, raw foods; there’s no doubt about that. Raw foods contain beneficial enzymes and nutrients that are destroyed through processing. To be realistic though, there’s no way we could all eat only raw foods, but it is recommended that we eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. Eliminating all processed food is probably not going to happen for most of us. And weight loss will probably not happen to all of us

Seriously, we need to make better food choices and supplement our diets with missing components. We can opt for the apple over the apple juice. We can choose a baked potato or salad over french fries. We can choose whole-grain bread over the white fluff that is passed off as bread. We can take the time to read food labels. Chances are, if you can’t pronounce it, you shouldn’t be eating it. We can choose processed foods with a very short list of ingredients; the longer the list, the more processing involved, the more nutrition lost, and the less chance of healthy weight loss.

We need to take better care of it by dieting to accomplish weight loss. Our bodies are amazing organisms, capable of extraordinary things. They are designed to filter out toxins at an astounding rate. They have a highly sophisticated defense system. They have an amazing ability to recover from serious damage. The key lies in providing our bodies with the necessary building blocks to accomplish what they were designed to doto keep us alive and weight loss is extremely important. It’s all about finding balance in your life and taking small steps each day to become healthier.

Ideas for Weight Loss Treats

There are all kinds of healthy weight lose tips. All one really needs to do is just go online and do a Google search. Anytime you start a weight loss program, like I have mentioned before the importance of keeping a food diary and with what you eat, the calories and amount ½ cup, 1 cup, etc. But also how you felt, our emotions have a lot to do with what we eat and when we eat. Weight loss is a complicated project. What we eat, when we eat, what we think and feel, our relationship with food and even where we eat.

But there is a lot of research and help available for everyone working at weight loss. As to keeping a diary which is really helpful, a study showed that the problem was most women did not keep an accurate diary, usually consuming over 1000 calories more than recorded. Who do we think we are kidding? I always think of the old saying, a moment on the lips is forever on the hips. Cheating on my food journal is only kidding me. My success depends on being honest with myself, yours does too.

One thing that helps is to have some snacks handy really helps. I keep a small box in the car with protein bars, water bottle or diet drink. That helps me to skip that stop and the big double arches or some other fast food place where a gut bomb is calling.

I like to keep a container with vegetables cut up and a nice dip for them. I have always got fresh fruit as well. But life is not all vegetables and fresh fruit. weight loss needs some taste and nutrition. Anyone could think of a milkshake as a nice cold sweet but ice cream is the kiss of death with weight loss as ice cream packs lots of fats and calories quickly. But have you ever made one with yogurt, some 2 percent milk and fresh fruit or even sugar free chocolate. The yogurt is really good for your health as well.

Many people struggle with portion control. Most people eat off of plates that are closer to platters than plates. The bigger the plate the apt you are to over portion what you are eating. Use a small plate and when you fill it up it makes you feel like you are eating much more, the amount of foods could be the same but your emotional self will feel full with a smaller plate or small bowl. I bought a small set of dishes and bowls. They are really small but I do not feel deprived at all, I enjoy keeping my losing weight plan working.

Also serve from the stove and not from the table, It is just too easy to reach for that second or third helping when it is sitting right in front of you. By the way, when you do have seconds try to make it vegetables and not starches you reach for. Make meat a part of a side dish, not the main part of the meal. These tips will help with your success with weight loss. Remember, some common sense and it is all about balance in ones life. It will take time to get back in shape in you have not been active for a few years.

Weight Loss

Many people who are striving for weight loss have turned to any number of fad diets that are available today. There is always some controversy with fad diets but they have been successful in helping some people lose actually achieve weight loss very quickly. There are a number of problems with fad diets, the first being related to your health. Many health professionals will advise against going on any type of fad diet. Some are so extreme that the result could be serious harm to your health. The second problem is once you have lost some weight and go back to living your normal routine, the weight is quickly added back on. And as you are well aware, it’s usually more weight put back on than you lost!

Not all diets are considered fad diets. Many doctors have designed diets that they feel will be the one correct way to reach a sustainable weight loss. How do you tell if a diet is a fad diet? For one thing they usually claim a substantial weight loss in a very short time. For example, if it tells you that you can lose twenty pounds in a few short days, I’d certainly be wary. A large weight loss in a short period can be very harmful to the body. Regardless of claims that are made people will still try anything because they have become desperate in their attempt to lose weight.

Probably the way most of us hear about fad diets is through the media. And this usually occurs because of a negative incident associated with the diet such as serious health issues or even a death related to the fad. Even though a particular diet may have negative press, it is this coverage that gives the fad diet more exposure. And more people will try it in spite of the health concerns.

People want to reach weight loss as quick as they can. Most of us would like to start a diet today and be at our desired weight tomorrow. A fad diet tells people that losing weight can be done quickly. And it can. But can it be done safely? Of course it can’t. Weight loss is a process that takes time, sometimes a long time. We all know that it takes longer than we like and that is where our persistence and will-power come into play.

To reach a desired weight loss we have to accept the time factor involved. It will happen but over time. And what happens if we go off track a day, or even a couple of days? Do we give up and quit? No, don’t quit. We all have the will-power to control our eating and be any weight we want. But we have to do it safely and be health conscious. If not we are only opening ourselves for failure or even worse. If weight loss is your desire then do it correctly and safely.

Did you know that Walking can help you with your Weight Loss goals?

Too many people when they start a new weight loss program, want to start running 5 miles a day. Lets stop and think about that for a minute. You have not exercised in about 10 years. There are three universal goals most of us share are: to live longer, to live free of illness and to control our weight. Interesting enough, normal walking lets us achieve all three. In fact, walking may be man’s best medicine for slowing the aging process. First, it works almost every muscle in the body, improving circulation to the joints and massaging the blood vessels (keeping them more elastic). Walking also helps us maintain both our muscle mass and metabolism as we age. It also keeps us young in spirit. Walking is the stress free way to get started towards your goal of becoming healthier.

One common theme I hear from people is they do not have time. Give up one of your TV shows. All it takes is a little time, common sense and a few guidelines. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of misinformation floating around regarding fitness walking, weight-loss and dieting. Walking is one of the best exercise for strengthening bones, controlling weight, toning the leg muscles, maintaining good posture and improving positive self-concept. People who diet without exercising often get fatter with time. Although your weight may initially drop while dieting, such weight loss consists mostly of water and muscle. When the weight returns, it comes back as fat. To avoid getting fatter over time, increase your metabolism by exercising daily. To lose weight, it’s more important to walk for time than speed. Walking at a moderate pace yields longer workouts with less soreness – - leading to more miles and more calories spent on a regular basis.

High-intensity walks on alternate days help condition one’s system. But in a waking, weight-loss program, it’s better to be active every day. This doesn’t require walking an hour every day. The key is leading an active life-style 365 days a year.

When it comes to good health and weight loss, exercise and diet are interrelated. Exercising without maintaining a balanced diet is no more beneficial than dieting while remaining inactive.

Are you aware, the national research council recommends eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day? Fruits and vegetables are the ideal diet foods for several reasons. They are relatively low in fat and calories, yet are often high in fiber and rich in essential vitamins and minerals. Remember that rapid weight-loss consists mostly of water and muscle – - the wrong kind of weight to lose. To avoid this, set more reasonable goals, such as one pound per week. That is a safe and balanced approach. If you are not sure, remember, check with your health care provider.

Carbohydrates are high-octane fuel. They provide energy for movement and help raise internal body metabolism. They are also satisfying. The key is not adding high-fat toppings to your carbohydrates.

The main thing is to participate and get active. It is everyday habits which define our weight and body composition. A three-minute walk after each meal is worth four pounds less body fat annually. Two flights of stairs a day burns off half a pound of body fat in a year. On the other hand, one candy bar eaten daily will cost you 20 pounds annually and your weight loss program shot! Wow, I bet you did not realize that. North Americans consume way too much sugar. With regular habits established and some daily exercise, you too can achieve your weight loss goals over a period of time.

What Are The Best Weight Loss Vitamins?

What Are The Best Weight Loss Vitamins?

This article will give you information on the best weight loss vitamins. Obesity is an epidemic in the United States. But the first step is always to consult your physian before starting any weight loss program. More and more people are becoming overweight and developing many health problems associated with obesity such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Consuming fast foods and processed foods and not getting enough exercise is the normal routine for many Americans today. But if you are overweight and are serious about changing your diet and losing weight you should be aware that certain vitamins can aid in weight loss.

The most important vitamins for weight loss are, vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Choline which is part of the B complex, Inositol which is part of B complex and Vitamin C. These are all water soluble vitamins, which means they are not stored in the body and must be replaced daily. These vitamins have been proven to help in weight loss and to slow down weight gain in older individuals.

Vitamins B2, B3 and B6 are necessary for normal thyroid function. So if your thyroid is contributing to your weight gain, taking these vitamins can help you lose weight. Vitamin B3, which is also called niacin, is an important B-complex because of it’s role in ridding the body of toxic and harmful chemicals. It also helps to breakdown carbohydrates into energy producing glucose.

Vitamin B5, also know as Pantothenic Acid, is an important vitamin in the breakdown of fatty acids and in the production of energy. It is also important in maintaining a healthy digestive tract and can help the body use other B complex vitamins more effectively.

Choline which is a part of the B-complex vitamin is essential for ensuring efficient fat metabolism. Fat that is stored in the body can add to your weight gain. It is important that your body is able to metabolize the fat effectively to prevent this weight gain. Inositol works in conjuction with choline to help metabolize the fat in your body.

Vitamin C increases metabolic rates and energy expenditures. This increases the process of turning food into energy. When you exercise, you are able to burn more calories if your body can metabolize them faster. Vitamin C can help your body do this.

It is important for you to eat a variety of foods each day to receive your recommended daily allowance of vitamins and minerals. However, if you have started a diet and exercise program it will be helpful to take a good multi-vitamin. Read your label and make sure that your vitamin meets the daily requirement of the B-complex vitamins and vitamin C. There is really no “magic” pill that will make you lose weight without work on your part. Your best bet for a weight loss vitamin would be vitamin B-complexes and vitamin C.

Again, always to consult your physian before starting any What Are The Best Weight Loss programs

Tips for Weight Loss

With an aging population, one area of concern by the health care community in general in North America is the rising levels of obesity and how people go about utilizing various Weight loss programs. According to Wikipedia, is a reduction of the total body weight, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. There are no short cuts to weight loss because its all about balance in how you approach your own situation. Too many people want instant weight loss without really considering the overall picture to their health.

It is a fact, that much of the human body consists of water. One needs to take care that your weight loss program is not one that temporarily depletes the volume of water in your body or you risk suffering from dehydration and damaging your kidneys. It is much healthier to reduce the amount you eat and take up some form of exercise, walking or going to the gym to help burn off excess calories. So remember to always drink plenty of water.

I am quite amazed that as much over half of Americans are overweight and Europeans are fast catching up? This caused by the availability of fast foods or is this a warning sign for diabetes. Women naturally are the first to be concerned about putting on weight. Weight loss programs however work for both sexes. Find a program that is safe and effective with the help of your health care provider. If you choose to start one without your doctor’s knowledge, then make sure you do not have any medical problems because you could harm yourself more than help yourself.

All one needs to go online and you will literally find hundreds of weight loss programs in the market place today. A weight loss program may include taking pills to help improve the body’s metabolism, drinking shakes as meal replacement, exercise and other lifestyle changes. The modern world can be stressful and it is common for people under stress to eat more. If one can reduce stress, you will reduce the intake of comfort food which will help with weight loss.

One type of program to avoid is one that promotes sudden weight loss. This should be cause for concern unless you are dieting as it could mark the onset of cancer of the pancreas, stomach or gall bladder, if you lose more than 10% of your weight in six months or 5% in a few weeks you need to consult your doctor.

I always suggest you check with your health care provider if you are an overweight or obese person before starting any kind of weight loss program. The primary reason is because the person could be suffering from hypothyroidism where the thyroid gland is not producing enough hormones to burn of energy produced as a result of food intake. Remember, take it slow, one day at a time.

Weight Loss Tips

Tips on Weight Loss for Teens

Its never easy during teenager years, especially if you are overweight. Prior to starting any weight loss program, is consult a doctor or dietitian to determine if your teen is indeed overweight or if he/she needs to lose weight fast. If a teen is really overweight, then moral and emotional support is one of the basic things needed to overcome their weight problems. The problem has actually escalted during the past 10 years with rising obesity rates among teenagers and this is espcially a sensitive topic for many.

Just remember that weight loss and weight management is a long-term process and involves not just the person who is trying to lose weight. It also involves the people who prepare his/her food, as well as many other factors. Teens that have the support of their families show better results in weight reduction programs that those teens that try to lose weight on their own. There are no quick fixes and if someone is promoting such a program, then you really need to do your research. Slow, safe and effective weight loss programs are the way to go.

Did you know recent medical studies recommend losing not more than two pounds per week? Weight loss can be accomplished through a combination of programs, including exercise and decreased calorie intake. Make sure to get into a program that helps you lose weight the right way. Just Google weight loss and see all the available information. There are many great resources available, but you just need to do be careful.

I personally always recommend you check with your doctor because the medical community warns that it is unsafe to lose more than 2% of your body weight in a period of 24-48 hours. The results would be a decrease in aerobic performance and endurance. Meanwhile, losing more than 5% of your body weight in three to four days will have detrimental effects on your power, muscle endurance and strength, aerobic performances and even mental concentration. Take the necessary pre-cautions.

In addition to exercise, you need to compliment this increased activity with the right diet. Avoid drinks that are high in calories like sodas, high-sugar juices, and other drinks. Stay away from low calorie drinks that are sweetened with sugar substitutes such as aspartame. These products have been proven to have serious detrimental effects over the long term. Make sure that you drink lots of water and fruit juices that do not have added sugar. This will help you stay away from those sodas.

More often than not, we all tend to go back to our normal ways quickly if changes are introduced drastically. That’s why it is better to move forward gradually rather than leaping two to three steps forward and finding yourself five steps back after a few weeks. It took awhile for the weight gain, then its going to take awhile to lose it as well.

One great tip to reduce your food intake is to stop eating when you’re already full. Avoid eating when you’re emotionally unstable. This happens a lot, especially in teens with constant body changes.

Have you ever noticed that people tend to eat because they are bored, lonely, or stressed and this is despite the fact that they are already full. Eat slowly since it will take about 20 minutes before your brain recognizes the amount of food in your stomach. A good strategy here is to put down your fork or spoon after each mouthful. Eat slowly, and take the time to really enjoy what you eat. It’s probably one of the few times during the day to relax with your family and enjoy some quality time together.

Be sure to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. As much as possible,
replace your junk food intake with fruits or vegetables. Not only will you lose weight, but it will keep your heart and body healthy. Also, don’t replace food groups or avoid eating them in your attempt at weight loss.

Just getting through your young adult years can be challenging enough. The problem is compounded in my opinion if you are overweight as a teenager. One thing to help you, avoid such forms of diets since your body still needs the nutrients for growth and development. It is better to go about losing weight the more natural way. It will create discipline and is more sustainable in the long run. Eat properly, get lots of rest and get some exercise each if possible. Even 20 to 30 minutes a day can make all the difference and perhaps avoid you having to go onto a strict weight loss program.

Rule number one for effective, long lasting weight loss is to throw your scales away. Your scales will not tell you how much fat you have lost. Did you know it is possible to gain weight but lose size? This may sound like a contradiction in terms but it is absolutely true.

So how can this be? If you are following a protein rich diet, which is essential for weight loss, and at the same time following an exercise program it is likely that you will be turning unwanted fat into lean muscle. As this process happens your body is becoming more toned and therefore your measurements will be less. However at the same time the fat you are losing will weigh less than the muscle you are gaining and so the weight loss you were looking for will be replaced initially with a weight gain. Once your body has adjusted to the new regime then you will find weight loss will happen quickly and easily
In order to deal with this initial weight gain you need to re program your mental attitude towards your weight loss. If you are feeling good and your clothes are fitting well, focus on that rather than what the scales are telling you.

When the scales don’t show the weight loss you were hoping for don’t fall into the trap of cutting calories. Cutting calories can be disastrous and will certainly do nothing to help your potential weight loss. In fact it is more likely to do the reverse. The body’s response to calorific restriction is to decrease the number of enzymes in the body that burn fat and increase the number of enzymes that store fat.

Ultimately you will alter your hormone output and your metabolism will slow down to respond to the reduction in fuel. If on top of this you start to do more exercise your body will be even more stressed and your thyroid will slow down your metabolism even further to keep you alive. Weight loss will not occur under these conditions.

If instead you eat a protein rich diet and build your lean muscle, the muscle in turn will improve your ability to burn unwanted fat and ultimately giving you the weight loss you so desire. If treated sensibly the body has the ability to regulate itself. If you starve it, it will go into protective mode, and take precautionary measures that will ultimately affect and even prevent any possible weight loss.
So take my advice and throw away your scales and trust that you will lose weight effectively by eating more protein and not by cutting your calorific intake.
