1. Make wise choices in the types of restaurants when you decide to eat out. For example, why not try a vegetarian restaurant? You have to know how to spot high-calorie foods and high-fat foods. Those are the ones that must be avoided at all cause until you get control of your eating habits. 2. This tip may be difficult, but once you get use to it, it really is not that bad to follow. You should avoid all types of salad dressings. Avoid salad dressings as they are high in fat and calories. Ask for fresh lemon wedges and squeeze the juice over your salad and raw vegetables. To date, no evidence to support this has been submitted to any health or medical journals despite a number of press releases making these bold claims.<br />

Losing weight for many people is one of the most difficult things they will ever attempt to do. It takes a high degree of self discipline and determination. It is probably so difficult because to have successful weight loss one must change their eating habits, and as most of us know, this is no easy task.<br />

For those of us who have attempted to lose weight know the many temptations that surround us. And it seems that once we start a weight loss program we see every food advertisement there is. It is harder than ever to resist the temptation. The food industry have also jumped on the band wagon with their many culinary delights to tempt our taste buds. Unfortunately many people have succumbed to this ploy and these processed foods along with other poor dietary habits have resulted in an epidemic of obesity previously never experienced in our world.<br />

Just how serious is the weight problem in our society? Is it being blown out of proportion by those who are in a position to maybe have some sort of financial gain as a result of all the attention given to this issue? Statistics indicate that two out of three American citizens are classed as overweight, whereas as many as one in three have been diagnosed as clinically obese. Between $50 billion  and $90 billion are spent each year on products and services to lose weight, including diet foods and drinks, slimming clubs and centers, and surgery to name but a few.<br />

As you can see there is a very large amount of money being spent by people to find the best way to lose weight. For some this search never ends as they go from one program to another. And despite the fact that all this money is spent on an annual basis the weight loss problem refuses to go away. So why are we getting such poor results from the various methods employed to help people to lose weight.<br />
<P><br />
We are all well aware that many of the processed foods we eat do not contain the nutrients our body needs. Many of the products available on our supermarket shelves will say low sugar or sugar free. What they fail to make clear is that these products that contain artificial sweeteners which are now thought to be responsible for many diet failures. In fact they may even be responsible for people putting on weight in the first place. People who join slimming clubs or visit fat farms can do very well initially but unfortunately they have a tendency not to last. The chances are if you have been trying to lose weight for several years and you have read different diet books and watched numerous programs on the TV telling you about the latest fad diet, then it is more than likely you have been told some weight loss lies. It boils down to marketing and every company promotes their information. I have found many companies to be honest and straight forward, while other&#8217;s really are lying to you. Do some research prior to starting any <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/11/weight-loss-33/">weight loss</A> program and use your common sense.<br />

I would like to believe that the lies haven&#8217;t been told on purpose, and I am sure that in many cases that wasn&#8217;t the intention. There is a lot of misinformation around that many people have taken to be the truth, and the medical profession in their ignorance of most matters to do with nutrition, have been party to these untruths. The food industry is as much to blame as anybody else. The dieter&#8217;s saving grace has been the fact that even though they were on a diet they could still have sweet tasting food and drink by using artificial sweeteners. Not only are they thought to interfere with the body&#8217;s ability to gauge the calorific or sugar content of food but they also slow the body&#8217;s use of food. Could it be then that artificial sweeteners can make us fat? It has been suggested that Americans who consume large quantities of fizzy diet drinks are more likely to gain weight than to lose weight. Artificial sweeteners are just another example of man&#8217;s inability to fully understand the human body. Our bodies do not function optimally on chemicals. If you are like me, then you love to eat. And there is nothing wrong with this as long as we control what we eat and how much we eat. The problem arises when we don&#8217;t control our eating. Health problems begin to develop and if they are not addressed there will be dire consequences. How many times have you looked into the mirror and told yourself that you have to lose some weight? Or maybe you have looked at a recent photograph of yourself and it really hits you just how much weight you have to lose. Don&#8217;t you have a little envy towards those people who never seem to gain any weight but eat just about anything they want? Regardless of how much weight we have to lose, we should strive to find a <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net">healthy weight loss</A> plan.<br />

<B>Healthy weight loss </B>is not some magical, mysterious plan that is available to a certain few. It is available to anyone who wants to take the time needed to work a plan. Weight loss is a process which requires a lot of work and discipline and you need to be really serious about getting it done. It&#8217;s not something you can be done quickly if you want to maintain your health. Losing weight is a science; therefore, we must take a scientific view of how we gain weight in the first place. The weight loss industry has tried to over simplify our attempts to lose weight. We don&#8217;t need all the bells and whistles to achieve some <B>healthy weight loss</B>. Losing weight is all about your eating and exercising habits. Many of us have no eating and exercising habit, we just eat what we want, when we want it. Weight loss requires no special diet, no special foods and no special exercise program. Losing weight is simply the result of a chemical reaction in the body which causes stored body fat to burn and be used for energy.<br />

Trying to lose weight can be quite stressful for many people, usually because results are wanted immediately. Losing weight is a major concern for many people and they do get frustrated and stop their efforts after some time. Long term <B>healthy weight loss</B> is all about losing it smart. You should aim to lose your weight forever and not for a temporary period only. Losing weight is one of those things that can, at times, be overwhelming or frustrating. At other times, it can be exciting and adventurous. Weight loss requires a plan and your desire to work that plan.<br />

Most people look at any weight loss plan as a deprivation of the foods we like and the food we are used to eating. Weight loss is a process and in order to achieve permanent results, you need to stick to the basic principle of weight loss.  Avoid doing things that can make you overweight. Healthy diets are about moderation and good nutrition. Have a piece of cake but don&#8217;t eat the whole thing and don&#8217;t have it everyday. As a society we have become much more health conscious over the last couple of decades. Scientific research has accumulated important information that has made us realize that we have to take better care of our bodies. More and more young people are developing weight problems. These problems are starting at an earlier age and continue through their teen years into adulthood. The weight problems facing our society today are becoming epidemic in proportion. As parents we have to take action to ensure our children do not become caught in this vicious circle of severe weight gain and dieting. As our children enter the teen years, those with weight problems will encounter many other problems associated with their being overweight. Something has to be done to ensure our teens become more aware of this problem and encourage them to take action towards <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.com/10/healthy-weight-loss-2/">healthy weight loss</A>.<br />
<P><br />
What has brought on such a problem as serious as overweight young people? A problem so serious that many young teens are not only overweight, but many are considered obese. Overweight kids are the product of the &#8220;fast food&#8221; lifestyle that most families has grown accustomed with. Daily consumption of hamburgers and fries along with other add-ons have made it easier for teens to gain more weight and at the same time get less of the essential nutrients that their growing body needs. An unhealthy trend is developing that needs to be addressed. It is usually up to the parents to take action and direct their children to programs that promote <B>healthy weight loss</B>.<br />

The trouble with many things in our society today is that we want the problems we encounter to be corrected immediately. We want something and we want it now! There is not one single thing that can be easily changed to make fewer people overweight. It is usually a combination of diet, exercise and other things that is the successful answer to achieve <B>healthy weight loss.</B> The big concern is more on how to find the motivation to eat healthier and exercise regularly. This is probably the most difficult part of a weight loss regime. But even if you have the proper motivation to start eating healthier and exercising more often, trying to keep it up becomes an even harder task.<br />

Some researchers have suggested that our schools have to play a more important role in educating our children on healthy eating practices. Preventive action is a lot less expensive than remedial action. An educational institution that practices and preaches a healthy lifestyle would be extremely helpful in keeping the weight of teenage and even younger kids in check. Schools can institute major changes in order to provide kids with healthy meals and regular exercise. Small steps such as banning soda and fruit drinks can help a lot. The more our children learn about nutrition and healthy weight loss programs, the better chance they have of changing for the better.<br />

Some critics may argue that our educational institutions should be concerned with the academic development of students, and leave such things as weight issues to the parents. Regardless, there are many ways that a school might help kids in general become healthier and make <B>healthy weight loss</B> easier. One is by providing real daily physical education requirements that can help make kids more active physically, a break from a sedentary lifestyle that they may be accustomed with at home. A school can also help in an effective weight loss program for kids by offering only healthy foods at school meals. Unhealthy foods or snacks should not be offered as an option for kids who don&#8217;t want to eat healthy. Having adequate fitness equipment available to all students can<br />
greatly help in motivating kids to become more active. Such equipment should be made available for everyone and not just for those students who are participating in formal sports. Schools can also increase the number of informal sports that kids can play. This way, kids do not have to be a member of the varsity basketball team in order to enjoy playing basketball at school.<br />

There are many ways that our educational institutions can help our young people achieve a healthier lifestyle. However, parents must also take some responsibility in correcting the problem. Such programs can also help them avoid becoming overweight and further help kids build good habits that might stay with them into adulthood. It often happens that so great is the desire to lose weight that people are ready to actually starve themselves in order to be rid of a few extra pounds but specialists point out that this is by no means the way to become thinner. Although this may seem like a healthy way to achieve <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net/08/weight-loss-21/">healthy weight loss</A>, it is not and is more likely to cause sickness as your immune system becomes weaker.<br />
<P><br />
<B>Healthy weight loss</B> and maintenance actually means to eat a healthy diet rich in the nutrients we need without excess calories. You must never underestimate the importance of sleep to stay healthy in the same way that we all need daily exercise.<br />
<P><br />
It is not uncommon for magazines aimed at women to favor the latest diet craze which usually relies on the dieter eating just one type of food for a certain period. A particular &#8216;restrictive&#8217; healthy diet that was favored for a while was the chicken, boiled vegetables, fruit and salad one that did not by any means supply all the daily nutrients our bodies need even though all of the foods were actually healthy.<br />
<P><br />
Of course if you were to follow such a diet for any length of time you would not want to eat chicken again as it becomes boring and then you will rebel against a healthy food. Generally, it is not rocket science and if you make sure you carry out some form of physical activity every day, plus good sleep and stay away from high calorie foods you will be on the right track to <B>healthy weight loss</B>.<br />

Always remember your doctor will ask you if you are sleeping well and will ask an overweight person if they snack in the middle of the night as while this is common, many do not remember. If you are someone who does rise in the night to feast, you are doing nothing but harm to your body and will be wasting all the effort you have made following a <B>healthy weight loss</B> program, with exercise to burn off calories.<br />

Often boredom creates problems when dieting especially when someone tries to push themselves too far because they want to lose weight and keep to the same routine. Going to the gym is a good idea and can provide incentive when others around you exercise but it is easy to try to hard so why not try some swimming first which will help your fitness levels before you start at the gym. However, we all know the long term result when weight loss is achieved in this manner.<br />

It would be great if <B>fast weight loss</B> could be done in a healthy manner, but it just doesn&#8217;t happen.<br />
Fast weight loss is the dream of many people because we are so impatient in this fast paced society we now live in. Permanent weight loss is actually a better option than fast weight loss, especially in the long run. Many people end up being yoyo dieters as a result of fast weight loss diets, as if you lose weight too quickly you are inevitably losing water and muscle as well as losing fat. As soon as you start eating normally, this weight will pile back on very quickly.<br />

Energy will start to wane because of the dietary regime they have been following.. As a result the dieter will start to eat a little more and some of the weight lost will be regained.<br />

A safe, healthy weight loss plan is more effective in losing weight as well as maintaining the weight loss. The weight loss plan that has a slower approach may see a sudden weight loss in the first week &#8211; which will be mainly water, but then a steady 1lb or 1.5 lb a week from then on. People are searching the Internet looking for the answer to the question, &#8220;<A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net">Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</A>?&#8221;<br />

Have you ever looked at some of the so-called diet plans that are available? It will amaze you at what people are trying to pass of as weight loss plans. How crazy can diets get? How about getting injections of a pregnant woman&#8217;s urine? Or eating nothing but cabbage soup? Has the world gone mad or are they just having a laugh at our expense.<br />
If we are to take the question &#8220;<B>Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>?&#8221; seriously then we need to look at how that person has tried to lose weight in the past. If they have tried fad diet after fad diet and wanted to lose weight quickly then maybe that would be the first place to start.<br />

We all know someone who is trying to lose weight, or is planning to go on a diet soon. Maybe it is even you that is in this situation. I recently had someone ask me that very question: &#8220;<B>Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>&#8220;? When we looked at her diet it was low in calories and low in protein. But what the person asking the question couldn&#8217;t understand was, she had been eating almost half the amount of food she normally ate and she still wasn&#8217;t losing weight.<br />

The Internet is a wealth of information, but you have to be wary of the source. Without a doubt there is some information that is simply untrue. There is so much misleading information around on weight loss that it is no wonder there is total confusion. The sooner people realise that they will not lose weight permanently on a fad diet that either concentrates on one food, promises amazing weight loss in 7 days or suggests that you need to cut calories to lose weight, the sooner people will stop asking &#8220;<B>Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>&#8220;?<br />

Most people that attempt to lose weight, don&#8217;t understand how the body works. They fail to learn how the body functions with regards to weight gain and weight loss. It seems to me that the majority of people who have a chronic weight problem have been doing something wrong. They have either been eating the wrong foods or simply eating too much and probably too late in the day.  Anyone who thinks that they can lose weight by embarking on a fad diet that is far from being a well balanced nutritious regime is just fooling themselves. It is vital that all the  people who are saying &#8220;<B>why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>?&#8221; realize, first and foremost, that a healthy well balanced nutritious diet is the only way to proceed, not just for their immediate weight lose regime, but for life.<br />

When a person tries a program that does give immediate results, they are given a sense of false security. Rapid weight loss is detrimental to your health and is unlikely ever to be sustained. Consuming low levels of calories as suggested by some diet regimes is basically a semi starvation diet and can cause loss of muscle from our organs including our heart. This is not a sensible plan.<br />

When you do choose a weight loss program, be sure to do some research on it. Don&#8217;t accept the plan as the truth until you can find out how the program actually works. Always look for the scientific evidence to back up any diet you may choose to follow. And remember it is physiologically impossible to lose more than 2lb of fat a week. Any diet promising more than that is lying. You may however lose more weight than 2lb but it won&#8217;t be fat. It will either be water or muscle and most importantly your body will not be able to sustain that weight loss when you return to normal eating. When does our weight become a problem? I think we all know when we start to gain some extra weight but many of us usually don&#8217;t take any action to correct this situation until we are told to do so by a doctor. Our weight just seems to creep up on us. I find that when I look at a photograph of myself, I really notice the weight gain. By waiting to be told we need to lose weight is actually hurting our health, and it also is hurting our chances to successfully lose that extra weight. By this time our <A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net/">weight loss</A> issue has become a major health concern.<br />

The health field has done extensive research on how we gain and lose weight. The number of people requiring <B>weight loss</B> for health reasons has been growing each year, and those needing to lose weight are becoming younger and younger. Women are always looking for healthy weight loss after pregnancy. One question all women want answered is how quickly they can look forward to having their old shape and weight back after pregnancy. What is certain is she will lose upwards of 14 pounds during the first 14 days after birth as the weight of the baby, amniotic fluid, placenta and other fluid is taken into account.<br />

After the baby is born the uterus gradually reverts to its original size and hormone levels which have been elevated during the pregnancy will also gradually reduce so any additional weight also begins to disappear and bear in mind that around 7 pounds of fat are added when a woman is pregnant. Energy is stored in this excess fat ready for breast feeding the baby but how quickly each woman loses weight is dependent on factors like genetics, the mother&#8217;s health, how much exercise they get and the type of food they eat.<br />
<P><br />
You should expect that it will take a little bit of time to lose the weight you gained during pregnancy because it did after all take you nine months to put that weight on although many women have been successful with <B>healthy weight loss </B>in just a few short months after a delivery. Often the last few pounds are the hardest to lose and that may be because the body often holds onto a little weight to ensure the baby has sufficient milk but even this is not a certainty as every woman experiences this differently.<br />

Being overweight is no laughing matter because it affects your health plus your self esteem and the longer you stay overweight the more damage is done to your body. Of course the bigger you are the more the heart has too work to make sure the blood is pumped around the system and with all the fat and sugary foods that are being consumed, it is no surprise that diabetes is also on the increase.<br />
<P><br />
While weight loss pills at first seem the ideal way to lose weight easily, there are some hidden dangers that need discussing. One of the constituents of some diet pills is amphetamines which can pose a danger if there are already health issues to consider.<br />
<P><br />
There are a number of side effects some of which can be serious especially if a heart or blood pressure problem exists. Diet pills also tend to have a laxative and diuretic effect and it is well documented how excessive diarrhea and urination can lead to dehydration, dry skin, increased thirst and the most dangerous of these side effects, electrolyte imbalance.<br />
<P><br />
On the face of it many people are willing to take the risk not realizing that when the electrolyte level drops owing to the laxative effect of the diet pills, many essential chemicals and nutrients responsible for the health of the heart are lost and not replaced quick enough. Learning how to eat sensibly and knowing when to stop eating is the key to losing the weight and keeping it off just as frequent small meals throughout the day will increase your metabolic rate thereby burning more calories.<br />

Where possible, steer clear of drinks that contain high levels of sugar and drink more, clean, pure water which help keep your system healthy and aid weight loss. Weight loss should be viewed as an ongoing project and not a quick fix problem so eating a healthy diet that suits your tastes will make the diet program easier to maintain.<br />

The maintenance of any given plan is essential as many people forget everything they have learned and once they shed the weight, fall into bad habits and pile the weight back on. Choosing the right weight loss program may require some study but surely if it works and keeps working then it will be worth the effort and will mean that the weight loss pills will not be needed. For anyone who has searched the Internet for weight loss programs, I am sure that they were amazed by the number of programs available. It seems that almost anyone who has lost some weight has put together their own program. Although there are many different theories as to the best way to achieve weight loss, some actually do work quite effectively. Before you decide which one is best for you, make sure you do some research. It will help you decide and it will surly help you avoid disappointment by choosing an ineffective program.<br />
<P><br />
In an effort to compare various weight loss programs, some doctors make the study of these programs an important part of their research. In 2005, Michael Dansinger, an MD from Tufts University, conducted a trial that compared the effectiveness of 4 popular <B>weight loss programs</B>:- Atkins, Zone, Weight Watchers, and Ornish. 160 participants aged between 22 years and 72 years with a mean BMI of 35 were randomly assigned to one of the 4 weight loss programs. The Atkins Diet was carbohydrate restricted, the Zone was macro nutrient balanced, the weight watchers diet was calorie restricted and the Ornish was fat restricted. The participants followed a supervised program for 2 months and then were left to follow the diet on their own. Unfortunately 22% left the study after 2 months. Each group had a modest increase of exercise throughout the trial.<br />
<P><br />
When studies such as this are done the results may be questioned by others depending on how they view particular programs or how detailed the study actually was. For this particular study the overall results showed that all 4 <B>weight loss programs</B> had a measure of success depending on the level of adherence. The trial concluded that there was evidence to suggest that there was not one diet to suit all types. By the end of the trial more people had dropped out of the Ornish and the Atkins suggesting that many people found these weight loss programs too extreme and therefore more difficult to stick to. Perhaps if the participants had been able to choose which program to follow the results may have been better.<br />
<P><br />
Those of us who have tried to achieve weight loss in the past know that what works for some people may not necessarily work for someone else. Also, there are so many variables that can&#8217;t be controlled that when studies are conducted great care must be taken to ensure all participants follow the same regime. The fact that one diet doesn&#8217;t suit all is a vital piece in the weight loss puzzle. We all have different metabolic rates and different ways of processing our food. If we know what these differences are then we can choose a <B>weight loss program</B> that can be closely matched to our specific needs.<br />
<P><br />
One finding seems to stand out: if you want to lose weight you have to realize that it takes time. Therefore, a short weight loss program most likely will not be very effective, especially at maintaining weight loss. Any weight loss program will only be successful if the participant follows it properly 98% of the time. We all have our 2% lapses but the answer is to get back on the diet as soon as possible. It is also essential to realize that permanent changes need to be made if the weight loss program results are to be maintained<br />

Most of us in today&#8217;s fast paced society have too much stress in our lives. We worry about too many things, and usually things we have no control over. The disturbing thing about stress is that it can have very serious consequences on our health if we do not learn how to reduce it. Also, if we have a weight problem stress can affect our ability to actually lose weight. In fact, unchecked stress can be a reason for weight gain. If you are on a weight loss program and have too much stress in your life it can be interfering with your success.<br />
<P><br />
Our bodies react to many stimuli every day. When good things happen we react in a certain way, just as our bodies will react differently in a bad or stressful situation. Our bodies do this automatically without any conscious intervention on our part. So it is with stress. Research has shown that constant chronic stress triggers a hormone called cortisol in your body. Cortisol is often referred to as the stress hormone because your adrenal glands start pumping it out when you&#8217;re under stress. On a good day cortisol helps to regulate blood pressure, cardiovascular function and metabolism. But when stress levels rise and then stay there, your body is flooded with cortisol constantly. As a result your immune system suffers, your blood pressure rises and your belly gets fatter and fatter.<br />

How many people do you know with a fat belly? You know, the &#8220;beer belly&#8221; as it is called by many. Why do people get this fat belly? For some of us it seems to be the only place the fat heads for! The main reason for this is that cortisol stimulates your appetite and signals your body to start storing fat. Back to the stress in our lives. The encouraging news is that some scientists research the affects of stress on our bodies and they have identified a number of factors that indicates if we are under too much stress. So what are the signs of a stressful life? Well a good example is chronic back pain or neck pain. Another symptom is often digestive problems. The good news is that stress induced belly fat is not that difficult to lose. Get rid of just a little bit of your stress and <B>weight loss</B> will start to happen very quickly. Stress fighting foods can have a dramatic effect on your overall stress levels as can moderate exercise and freeing yourself of accumulated guilt.<br />

Stress has become a very important topic in the world of health and wellness. It can be related to many serious health problems such as heart attacks and strokes. A wise approach for natural weight loss is to ensure your calorific intake meets your physical activity levels. Obviously this is not as easy as it seems because the number of overweight American citizens is increasing with over a third of the population affected. Despite this, most of these overweight people want to be trim again although it is probably more for cosmetic reasons than those related to their health.<br />

The strange thing is though that it is so much easier to stay trim than it is to lose weight because as soon as you start putting on weight, many things become more difficult. Even though many people know this subconsciously very few actually plan to ensure that weight gain doesn&#8217;t happen to them.<br />

Studies have shown that it is more likely a person who has lost weight using a calorie controlled diet, even if they actually enjoyed it, are more likely to go back to their old eating habits at some point. The simple fact is this; the longer you ignore <B>natural weight loss</B> programs and stay overweight, the more likely you are to have health problems.<br />

There is a large number of health conditions associated with weight gain and the greater the increase in body weight the more that problems occur. Losing weight by natural means isn&#8217;t a big secret and deep down most of us understand the principles behind it.<br />

Maintaining a <B>natural weight loss</B> regime means sticking to low fat meals that are high in fiber and contain complex carbohydrates with a moderate amount of protein. Dietitians also say that the body has a capacity to retain dietary fat more than calories for regular foods so weight gain is more likely. Another problem is the obsession with fat free or low fat foods that food manufactures are stacking the shelves with which despite their popularity are not stopping the problem of obesity.<br />

The misconception is if you are eating something fat-free then you won&#8217;t be adding extra fat to your body but all food contains calories, just not always in the form of fat. This is a trap that many people fall into and forget it&#8217;s about eating from the correct food groups, and if you have to snack make it a small healthy one.<br />

Health experts say it would be better to try eating every three to four hours, which may mean a nutritious low-fat snack between lunch and dinner. This is a subject that will continue to be debated for some time but natural weight loss is possible and should not be looked upon as a lost cause.<br />
