Quick Ways to Lose Weight

If you are like me, then you love to eat. And there is nothing wrong with this as long as we control what we eat and how much we eat. The problem arises when we don’t control our eating. We put on some extra pounds. for some of us it may only be a pound or two, maybe even five or ten. But for some people, the extra weight added become a very serious health concern. Health problems begin to develop and if they are not addressed there will be dire consequences. Regardless of the number of pounds one puts on, we all are looking for quick ways to lose weight. But before you start any weight loss plan, be sure that it is a healthy plan.

One of the main reasons we gain weight is because we eat too many foods that are simply not healthy for us. They may taste delicious, but their nutritional value is highly suspect, and some have no nutritional values at all. If you continue to follow your bad eating habits you will continue to put on more and more weight. Are you over weight and eating too much? Well, I have news for you. Over eating, very little exercise and lack of nutritional education are among the main reasons many people become obese and over weight. Are there quick ways to lose weight? of course there are, but are they safe? We have to educate ourselves on safe and healthy weight loss.

I think we should re-structure our school curriculums and emphasize nutrition classes and exercise. Obesity has now been classified as an epidemic and one of the leading causes of disease and death in America. Hello there, do you realize this is a matter of life and death? Respect your body and be good to yourself and start a weight loss plan. Don’t just be looking for quick ways to lose weight. Take the proper approach and give yourself the time needed to change your body weight. Some of those quick weight loss plans do work, but they don’t sustain the weight loss, and the weight will come back, quicker than you lost it!

We have to give our body healthy and nutritious food. If we don’t it will not function properly and illness will eventually occur. It is that simple. And once we are at the stage where our weight problem causes illness, we then become almost desperate to lose weight. People then start to look for quick ways to lose weight. In this frame of mind we sometimes fail to think logically and sensibly. We begin to look for those plans that tell us we can melt those extra pounds away. We begin the journey of never ending weight loss by looking for the quick fix.

The quick fix just isn’t there. Of course you can follow some of those plans and you will see some very fast weight loss. But it doesn’t last. The weight loss turns into more weight gain once you stop the program. And if you stayed on any of these quick weight loss plans for an extended period of time, serious healthy problems will begin to appear. We have health problems from too much body weight and we can also develop health problems from following those plans that promise fast weight loss. Take the correct approach to weight loss. Don’t look for quick ways to lose weight, but search for a program that is sensible and healthy. You are more likely to keep the weight off.

Weight Loss Tips

Want to lose some weight? But you have tried all the diets, bought all the latest “weight loss” exercise equipment, read all the latest best sellers weight loss fads but still can’t maintain a healthy weight. Does this sound like you? Maybe there is more to your weight problem than you realize. All your reading of those weight loss tips may have been a waste of time.

I have recently read a very interesting article that suggested that obesity was “socially contagious”. Apparently a new study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that if one sibling is obese, the chances of another sibling becoming obese increases by 40% (55% amongst siblings of the same gender). Likewise if one spouse becomes obese the likelihood of the other spouse becoming obese is increased by 37%. In mutual friends the risk increased by 171%. So much for all those weight loss tips if this bit of info is true! However there is some hope. The researchers of the study believe that it should be possible to harness the same force to slow the spread of obesity.

Go through your phone book and look for the number of fitness clubs and organizations that are listed. Are you surprised by the number? Some of them are excellent plans and have a tremendous amount of weight loss tips and information. Weight loss and fitness clubs are not new to us. Weight Watchers and Slimming World being two that have been successfully helping individuals with their weight loss for many years utilizing the power of social support.

Most people on any weight loss plan are always on the look-out for more weight loss tips that may help them on their journey. Those who are striving to lose weight will be aware that there are some essential elements that are crucial to a successful weight loss campaign. Good nutrition is vital as is the addition of resistance and cardio training. More recently it has been agreed that another important element is mental attitude and the need to be positive. Now we can add another dimension to a successful weight loss regime, that of social support.

Many people are extremely self-conscious about their excess weight. They are embarrassed and worry about how others perceive them. Although slimming clubs are ideal for some people, they are not everyone’s idea of fun and many would be slimmers would rather follow their weight loss regime in the privacy of their own homes. But this doesn’t necessarily mean they have to do it in isolation. The support of friends and family can be a vital element in anyone’s campaign as they are the people we see on a daily basis. People who fall into this group are always open to weight loss tips.

Regardless of all the tips one can gather, the single most important fact is to have a support network that can help you when things get tough. This is probably one of the most important weight loss tips you will receive. Social support can either cause or cure obesity. If you are not getting the support from your friends and family then you need to look further afield.

Most people want to lose weight just to look better. For many the health benefits are only secondary. Remember that obesity is the single greatest contributor to chronic disease and the growth of obesity related diabetes. It is also worth remembering that “if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you always got” It is no use blaming other people if your weight loss is unsuccessful. Of all the weight loss tips available, remember to look to yourself and make the necessary changes. Change your diet, increase your exercise, work on your positive mind set and surround yourself with positive supportive people. “People take on the nature and the habits and the power of thought of those with whom they associate within a spirit of sympathy and harmony”: a quote from Napoleon Hill. A social support group will offer you:

Accountability

Role Models

Positive Environment

Specialized Knowledge

Encouragement

A group with whom you can share your successes

The Weight Loss Plan

How many times have you looked into the mirror and told yourself that you have to lose some weight? Or maybe you have looked at a recent photograph of yourself and it really hits you just how much weight you have to lose. Don’t you have a little envy towards those people who never seem to gain any weight but eat just about anything they want? Regardless of how much weight we have to lose, we should strive to find a healthy weight loss plan.

Healthy weight loss is not some magical, mysterious plan that is available to a certain few. It is available to anyone who wants to take the time needed to work a plan. The goal to lose weight is not rocket science. It requires no special diet, no special foods and no special exercise program. Weight loss is a process which requires a lot of work and discipline and you need to be really serious about getting it done. It’s not something you can be done quickly if you want to maintain your health. Losing weight is a science; therefore, we must take a scientific view of how we gain weight in the first place. For example, did you know that 80% of all people who are overweight battle food addictions and tend to be emotional eaters?

The weight loss industry has tried to over simplify our attempts to lose weight. We don’t need all the bells and whistles to achieve some healthy weight loss. Losing weight is all about your eating and exercising habits. Many of us have no eating and exercising habit, we just eat what we want, when we want it. Weight loss requires no special diet, no special foods and no special exercise program. Losing weight is simply the result of a chemical reaction in the body which causes stored body fat to burn and be used for energy.

Trying to lose weight can be quite stressful for many people, usually because results are wanted immediately. Losing weight is a major concern for many people and they do get frustrated and stop their efforts after some time. Long term healthy weight loss is all about losing it smart. You should aim to lose your weight forever and not for a temporary period only. Losing weight is one of those things that can, at times, be overwhelming or frustrating. At other times, it can be exciting and adventurous. Weight loss requires a plan and your desire to work that plan.

Most people look at any weight loss plan as a deprivation of the foods we like and the food we are used to eating. Having this view does not help and in the long run it can be an obstacle to healthy weight loss. Weight loss is a process and in order to achieve permanent results, you need to stick to the basic principle of weight loss. Avoid doing things that can make you overweight. If you don’t have the right attitude, you won’t last long and will simply go back to the same lifestyle and habits that made you overweight. Losing weight is a process which requires a lot of work and discipline and you need to be really serious about getting it done. It’s not something you can do that quickly either. Weight loss is all about eating right and exercising. These are lifestyle changes that require you to take one step at a time and change your habits. Healthy diets are about moderation and good nutrition. Have a piece of cake but don’t eat the whole thing and don’t have it everyday. Feeling good about yourself ultimately means you’ll be kinder to yourself. The greatest gift is the gift of great health.

Weight Loss With Diet Pills

Over the last fifteen to twenty years the weight loss industry has been continuously growing. The reason for such growth is the fact that as a society we have been growing also…literally growing. Obesity has become a national problem and along with this are all the associated health problems. From our legislators to doctors to our schools, people are looking for answers to solve this problem. Many solutions have been presented to correct the problem but it will take an extended effort on the part of educators to help reverse this trend. Although scientific research has provided information on how to achieve weight loss, there have also been some completely unsupported theories put forth as well.

As people search for the best way to reach their weight loss goals, they may attempt to participate in some programs that have very little scientific support. Many have turned to various forms of diet drugs to help with weight loss. Several diet drugs over the last decade have been associated with serious heart problems and other health-related issues, and diet pills have even been linked to a number of deaths. Weight loss, in the context of medicine or health, is a reduction of the total body weight, which can mean loss of fluid, muscle, bone mass, or fat.

People tend to become desperate and want to lose their weight overnight. it would be nice but it just doesn’t happen. And remember too rapid weight loss can cause serious health problems. Weight loss diet pills are not all created equally; therefore, they have varying results. There are a lot of them that do not work at all, but claim to have an excellent effect. Since most over the counter diet medications are not regulated, you have no way of knowing if what their advertisements say is true or not.

We are all aware of the fact that many medicines that we take today have side affects. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. Prescription diet drugs have been shown to cause serious side effects in some people. While some side effects, such as dry mouth and headache, are only slightly annoying, some can be extremely hazardous to your health. Prescription weight loss drugs are intended for individuals with medically significant weight problems, and are intended to be used in conjunction with dietary, behavioral, and exercise programs. If used correctly by the intended group of users, oftentimes they can be a lifesaver. If taken indiscriminately, they can cause serious harm to your body and at times, even death.

Healthy, natural weight loss should be the goal of everyone who needs to lose weight. If it can be done without medication of any kind it is much healthier and safer. Natural weight loss pills, when manufactured properly, should help one lose some weight. Basically, if you can lose the weight more naturally, your physician will recommend you do so. If you cannot meet realistic goals in this way, diet pills may be discussed. A lifestyle change and good eating habits plus moderate exercise is the healthiest way to lose weight. Diet pills should be your avenue of last resort due to the health complications that may follow their usage.

Weight Loss With Supplements

As a society we have become much more health conscious over the last couple of decades. Scientific research has accumulated important information that has made us realize that we have to take better care of our bodies. One of the major areas of study revolves around weight loss. The health ailments that can be caused by excess weight are very serious, even to the point of an early demise. As a result more and more people are trying to lose weight and trying to maintain that weight loss.

Many different weight loss programs and diets are available to the consumer. In fact there are so many that it can be quite confusing for anyone who is looking for a program. Losing weight generally equates to burning fat. To understand how this happens we need to look at what happens to the glucose in the body. Glucose enables the body to maintain an even level of blood sugar. This is the first step in making energy. The crucial part of the weight control equation is to make energy efficiently. In order to do this we need a constant supply of the B vitamins, as B vitamins are essential for the Krebs Cycle where energy is produced.

Without the scientific research that has been carried out there is so much we would not know about how the body works. Studies have shown that the minerals iron, calcium, magnesium, chromium and zinc are also vital for making energy. Magnesium is particularly important for blood sugar control and burning carbohydrate for energy rather than storing it as fat. The older you are the less likely you are to be getting enough chromium, the essential mineral that helps stabilize blood sugar levels, appetite and hence affects your body’s ability to achieve weight loss.

Although prescription diet pills should be avoided like the plague, it may be worth considering some of the various vitamin and herbal supplements that are available to help you reach your weight loss goals. Hydroxy Citric Acid (HCA) is extracted from the dried rind of the tamarind fruit (Garcinia cambogia) and has been proved to slow down the production of fat and reduce the appetite. It works by inhibiting the enzyme that converts sugar into fat. It also reduces the synthesis of fat and cholesterol. In a trial conducted by the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands HCA was found to be a powerful appetite suppressant which encouraged people to lose weight without any harmful effects.

An important aspect of our ability to lose weight is to be able to control our appetite. Most people would think that this is a purely psychological facet of weight loss, but it is only part of the equation. Two of the most powerful appetite controllers are your blood sugar levels and your brains level of serotonin. Serotonin is made from an amino acid called tryptophan. People on weight loss diets will find that the diets are notoriously low in tryptophan and so will themselves have abnormally low levels. This can lead to depression and, because serotonin controls appetite they are more likely to want to eat more, not very helpful when you are wanting to lose weight. One of the quickest ways to restore normal levels is to supplement your diet with a special form of tryptophan called 5-HTP

To be successful with any weight loss program takes lots of personal determination and perseverance. But it also takes more than this. If you want to lose weight, the secret of your success is to ensure that you have enough serotonin so you have less desire to eat in excess and to keep your blood sugar levels and your insulin release even. This helps to ensure you don’t have an increase in appetite due to blood sugar dips. As with all things it can be a careful balancing act, as too much insulin drives blood sugar into body fat, whereas too little means low serotonin levels and increased carbohydrate cravings. Taking the appropriate supplementation can help to achieve this balance and ensure that you maximize your ability to lose weight.

Teens and Healthy Weight Loss

More and more young people are developing weight problems. These problems are starting at an earlier age and continue through their teen years into adulthood. The weight problems facing our society today are becoming epidemic in proportion. As parents we have to take action to ensure our children do not become caught in this vicious circle of severe weight gain and dieting. As our children enter the teen years, those with weight problems will encounter many other problems associated with their being overweight. Something has to be done to ensure our teens become more aware of this problem and encourage them to take action towards healthy weight loss.

What has brought on such a problem as serious as overweight young people? A problem so serious that many young teens are not only overweight, but many are considered obese. Overweight kids are the product of the “fast food” lifestyle that most families has grown accustomed with. Daily consumption of hamburgers and fries along with other add-ons have made it easier for teens to gain more weight and at the same time get less of the essential nutrients that their growing body needs. An unhealthy trend is developing that needs to be addressed. It is usually up to the parents to take action and direct their children to programs that promote healthy weight loss.

The trouble with many things in our society today is that we want the problems we encounter to be corrected immediately. We want something and we want it now! So what is the quick and easy answer to help teenagers as well as adults with their weight loss problems? The simple combination of a sensible weight loss diet and exercise of course. Almost everyone is aware that following a healthy diet and regular exercise are keys to healthy weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight.

We certainly don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that something has to be done about the weight issues facing our young people today. The research that has already been completed has left us with plenty of information. More than just the fast food, it is also the larger portion sizes, or increasing inactivity that are causing more teens to become overweight. There is not one single thing that can be easily changed to make fewer people overweight. It is usually a combination of diet, exercise and other things that is the successful answer to achieve healthy weight loss. The big concern is more on how to find the motivation to eat healthier and exercise regularly. This is probably the most difficult part of a weight loss regime. But even if you have the proper motivation to start eating healthier and exercising more often, trying to keep it up becomes an even harder task.

Some researchers have suggested that our schools have to play a more important role in educating our children on healthy eating practices. Preventive action is a lot less expensive than remedial action. An educational institution that practices and preaches a healthy lifestyle would be extremely helpful in keeping the weight of teenage and even younger kids in check. Schools can institute major changes in order to provide kids with healthy meals and regular exercise. Small steps such as banning soda and fruit drinks can help a lot. The more our children learn about nutrition and healthy weight loss programs, the better chance they have of changing for the better.

Some critics may argue that our educational institutions should be concerned with the academic development of students, and leave such things as weight issues to the parents. Regardless, there are many ways that a school might help kids in general become healthier and make healthy weight loss easier. One is by providing real daily physical education requirements that can help make kids more active physically, a break from a sedentary lifestyle that they may be accustomed with at home. A school can also help in an effective weight loss program for kids by offering only healthy foods at school meals. Unhealthy foods or snacks should not be offered as an option for kids who don’t want to eat healthy. Having adequate fitness equipment available to all students can
greatly help in motivating kids to become more active. Such equipment should be made available for everyone and not just for those students who are participating in formal sports. Schools can also increase the number of informal sports that kids can play. This way, kids do not have to be a member of the varsity basketball team in order to enjoy playing basketball at school.

There are many ways that our educational institutions can help our young people achieve a healthier lifestyle. However, parents must also take some responsibility in correcting the problem. Among the changes in the schools, the program to increase physical education requirements will likely be the most useful in helping kids achieve a healthy weight loss. Such programs can also help them avoid becoming overweight and further help kids build good habits that might stay with them into adulthood. Let’s all work together to help our young people have a better future with regards to their health.

The Debate About ‘Healthy’ Weight Loss

It often happens that so great is the desire to lose weight that people are ready to actually starve themselves in order to be rid of a few extra pounds but specialists point out that this is by no means the way to become thinner. Although this may seem like a healthy way to achieve healthy weight loss, it is not and is more likely to cause sickness as your immune system becomes weaker.

Healthy weight loss and maintenance actually means to eat a healthy diet rich in the nutrients we need without excess calories. You must never underestimate the importance of sleep to stay healthy in the same way that we all need daily exercise.

It is not uncommon for magazines aimed at women to favor the latest diet craze which usually relies on the dieter eating just one type of food for a certain period. A particular ‘restrictive’ healthy diet that was favored for a while was the chicken, boiled vegetables, fruit and salad one that did not by any means supply all the daily nutrients our bodies need even though all of the foods were actually healthy.

Of course if you were to follow such a diet for any length of time you would not want to eat chicken again as it becomes boring and then you will rebel against a healthy food. Generally, it is not rocket science and if you make sure you carry out some form of physical activity every day, plus good sleep and stay away from high calorie foods you will be on the right track to healthy weight loss.

Always remember your doctor will ask you if you are sleeping well and will ask an overweight person if they snack in the middle of the night as while this is common, many do not remember. If you are someone who does rise in the night to feast, you are doing nothing but harm to your body and will be wasting all the effort you have made following a healthy weight loss program, with exercise to burn off calories.

Healthy weight loss plans are known to help people with their sleep, levels of energy and as a consequence their health and well being. Don’t demand to much from yourself as healthy weight loss takes time and the one thing that will slow it down or stop it altogether is the way you treat yourself so be positive. Often boredom creates problems when dieting especially when someone tries to push themselves too far because they want to lose weight and keep to the same routine. Going to the gym is a good idea and can provide incentive when others around you exercise but it is easy to try to hard so why not try some swimming first which will help your fitness levels before you start at the gym. It can take some time to get fit again but it can be done easily if you do not try to run before you can walk.

Healthy Weight Loss: Do Fad Diets Really Work?

Sometimes people lose sight of one very important fact when they are on a weight loss program. They will overlook the health aspect of the weight loss plan in exchange for fast weight loss. This is especially true with fad diets that sometimes make outrages claims regarding weight loss. The fact is that some fad diets do help people achieve fast weight loss, but they can be very dangerous and once off the diet, the weight quickly returns. These types of weight loss plans are the farthest thing from healthy weight loss.

Why do people put aside health concerns to attain that quick weight loss when they know it may be harmful to their physical well-being? There are numerous reasons why fad diets should in no way be considered a healthy weight loss plan. Consider some of the following reasons to avoid such diets.

One reason why fad diets should not be considered as part of a healthy weight loss plan is the simple fact that most of them restrict the food you are able to eat. Many fad diets concentrate on a certain food type and stress that you avoid all others. This means you miss out on the nutrition you really need and can get from a more balanced diet approach. You also can become bored quite quickly eating the same food day after day.

Another reason why fad diets cannot be a part of a healthy weight loss plan has to do with the nutrition that your body losses while avoiding most other foods. Quite often these fad diets will tell you to take vitamins and supplements to make up for all the nutritional deficiencies you experience while on that fad diet. However, your body will not be able to absorb the nutrients from the recommended supplements unless you take them with food. And many of the foods that help you absorb nutrients are banned on fad diets.

As we lose weight we have to nourish our bodies. If we don’t give our bodies the nourishment it requires we are certainly not following a healthy weight loss plan. Fad diets are usually so restrictive and unappetizing that after as little as one day you will begin having overwhelming cravings for other foods and most likely you will not be able to complete the fad diet. This quitting will also wreak havoc on your self esteem as you may beat yourself up for not having enough willpower to stick it out with the diet for weight loss.

To achieve healthy weight loss takes time. And the goal is not only to lose weight but to keep the weight off permanently. Fad diets are temporary solutions for your weight loss problems. Even if you do follow through to the end with a fad diet you have not made permanent healthy changes to the way you handle food in your life. So fad dieters tend to be yo-yo dieters that go back and forth between extreme lo-calorie fad diets to periods of binging on food groups that were missing from the fad diet. Fad dieters are on a roller coaster of gaining and losing the same pounds again and again.

Advertising can be very powerful. It can be very misleading at times and such is the case with many weight loss programs. No matter what you see in the media about quick weight loss fad diets, realize that these diets will never work long term. The best way to achieve healthy weight loss and sustain that weight loss (so you never have to diet again) is to eat a variety of healthy foods, avoid overeating, and do regular exercise. This simple formula works every time.
