Who would think that trying to lose weight can actually make you put more weight on? However that is what can happen with some people who try a weight loss plan, but fail to follow it properly. How can this occur when a person tries to lose weight but finds themselves gaining? The answer lies in the plan itself and how strict one is at following it. We all know that the hardest part of a weight loss plan can be sticking to it and not eating foods that are not recommended. Following are some weight loss tips that may help you with your program.


There are so many weight loss tips available that one certainly has to be careful deciding upon which ones to follow. Weight loss can almost be considered a science. Numerous studies have been conducted and researchers are continually trying to find more information on how the body reacts to weight loss. Unfortunately it is true, weight loss does make you fat if you don’t do it correctly. Your diet may have resulted in a weight loss of 10 to 15 lbs in the first few weeks most of which will be water. Once you end your diet your food cravings prompt you to eat and maybe even to overeat. Unfortunately during your weight loss regime your Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR) will have decreased. The result is that you regain all the weight you lost and some more. By the time your BMR catches up you are already overweight again.


The weight gain you experience, after having a weight loss, can be difficult on our self-esteem. Many weight loss tips seem to ignore the powerful role self-esteem plays in achieving weight loss. You will now probably try to lose weight yet again. You will be successful initially but then you will hit a plateau. You become discouraged and start eating again and so the cycle continues. Each time you gain a little bit more than the time before. The only people who will be successful with their weight loss program are those who have a holistic approach. It is very important to watch carefully what you eat, stick with the regime and take regular exercise. This is the only way to keep weight off permanently. Crash diets don’t work. They may be a quick fix for a short term goal but they have no lasting effect.


Weight loss tips sometimes gives people a false sense of hope. They make people believe that any weight loss plan is good enough if it is followed. To really increase our BMR we need to eat foods that will increase thermogenisis and have a stimulatory or energizing effect on the body. Protein has a particularly good thermogenic effect, but this is only true if you don’t overeat. Overeating puts a tremendous strain on the digestive system which can drain your energy and make you feel tired.


It’s amazing how certain foods affect the body. Some foods can actually help us lose weight. The problem is that many people do not take the time to learn which foods can help with their weight loss plan. Another food that can rev up your BMR even more than protein is coconut oil. Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid (MCFA). MCFAs shift the body’s metabolism into a higher gear so to speak so that you burn more calories. Because MCFAs increase the metabolic rate, coconut oil can actually promote weight loss. A dietary fat that improves weight loss rather than causing you to gain weight is a strange concept for us to understand. MCFAs also encourage the burning of the long chain fatty acids as well so having a doubly positive effect on weight loss. Remember, do some research on weight loss tips that you may find interesting. When we want something we usually want it as quickly as possible. This is especially true when it comes to weight loss. For those of us who need to lose weight we want it to happen overnight. It doesn’t seem to matter that it may have taken years to put that extra weight on, we just want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Some programs actually do promote fast weight loss, and in some cases people do experience some rapid lose of weight. However, we all know the long term result when weight loss is achieved in this manner.


It would be great if fast weight loss could be done in a healthy manner, but it just doesn’t happen.
Fast weight loss is the dream of many people because we are so impatient in this fast paced society we now live in. Permanent weight loss is actually a better option than fast weight loss, especially in the long run. Many people end up being yoyo dieters as a result of fast weight loss diets, as if you lose weight too quickly you are inevitably losing water and muscle as well as losing fat. As soon as you start eating normally, this weight will pile back on very quickly.


Those of us who are planning to take some action and actually do something about our weight problem, are focused on the weight that shows on our scale. We all seem to measure our success on this number. However, there is a misconception that this measurement is the one that tells whether your diet is successful or not. With just about any weight loss program, one should see results in the first week if the plan is followed as suggested. After the first weeks things begin to slow down somewhat, but weight loss will continue regularly. With the fast weight loss diet the dieter will begin to plateau after the 2nd or 3rd week. Energy will start to wane because of the dietary regime they have been following.. As a result the dieter will start to eat a little more and some of the weight lost will be regained.


A safe, healthy weight loss plan is more effective in losing weight as well as maintaining the weight loss. The weight loss plan that has a slower approach may see a sudden weight loss in the first week – which will be mainly water, but then a steady 1lb or 1.5 lb a week from then on. At the end of a 12 week period the fast weight loss dieter will have lost maybe 2 -3 lb whereas the other dieter will have lost nearer to 13lb and will have experienced more sustained energy levels. It is also likely that the fast weight loss dieter will have lost some lean muscle which will ultimately be detrimental to their health


There are many different theories on the proper way to lose weight and maintain your weight loss at a healthy level. Whether you want to experience fast weight loss or a slower, more sustained weight loss, the key to weight control is to keep your blood sugar levels even. Excess glucose turns into fat. A lack of glucose leaves you feeling lethargic. Your glucose balance is influenced by many factors, including:-

Your sugar and carbohydrate intake

Your stress and stimulant load

Food combining

The quality and type of fat you eat

The fiber in your food

Weight loss can be very complex and losing weight is a matter that should be taken very seriously. Got milk? If you do and you are dealing with a stressful event, make sure you drink it. Paired with a healthy whole-grain cereal choice in the morning, low-fat milk is a great way to start your day and arm yourself to do battle with the stressors that await you. Cottage cheese is also another great dairy choice, and when coupled with a fruit that’s high in vitamin C, it helps the body battle free radicals that run rampant during your most stressed periods.


Another good food to help defeat stress is the little snack that too many people don’t bother to eat. Whole almonds are an awesome choice when it comes to arming yourself against stress. They’re high in magnesium, zinc, as well as vitamins B2, C, and E and unsaturated fats, all which are great warriors against free radicals, which have been shown to cause cancers and heart disease.


The thing about getting tips from others is that we have the option to use them or just ignore them. But we all know that if we do what other successful people do, then it only stands to reason that we will be successful as well. Why Can’t I Lose Weight?


Some people will do almost anything to lose weight. They will jump from one plan to the next hoping to find that miracle program that will somehow melt the pounds away. From the purchase of exercise gear that will make you drop those extra pounds in less than five minutes a day to the latest fad diet that says you shouldn’t eat anything, those who need to lose weight are desparate. People are searching the Internet looking for the answer to the question, “Why can’t I lose weight?”


Have you ever looked at some of the so-called diet plans that are available? It will amaze you at what people are trying to pass of as weight loss plans. How crazy can diets get? How about getting injections of a pregnant woman’s urine? Or eating nothing but cabbage soup? Has the world gone mad or are they just having a laugh at our expense.
If we are to take the question “Why can’t I lose weight?” seriously then we need to look at how that person has tried to lose weight in the past. If they have tried fad diet after fad diet and wanted to lose weight quickly then maybe that would be the first place to start.


We all know someone who is trying to lose weight, or is planning to go on a diet soon. Maybe it is even you that is in this situation. I recently had someone ask me that very question: “Why can’t I lose weight“? When we looked at her diet it was low in calories and low in protein. But what the person asking the question couldn’t understand was, she had been eating almost half the amount of food she normally ate and she still wasn’t losing weight.


The Internet is a wealth of information, but you have to be wary of the source. Without a doubt there is some information that is simply untrue. There is so much misleading information around on weight loss that it is no wonder there is total confusion. The sooner people realise that they will not lose weight permanently on a fad diet that either concentrates on one food, promises amazing weight loss in 7 days or suggests that you need to cut calories to lose weight, the sooner people will stop asking “Why can’t I lose weight“?


Most people that attempt to lose weight, don’t understand how the body works. They fail to learn how the body functions with regards to weight gain and weight loss. It seems to me that the majority of people who have a chronic weight problem have been doing something wrong. They have either been eating the wrong foods or simply eating too much and probably too late in the day. Anyone who thinks that they can lose weight by embarking on a fad diet that is far from being a well balanced nutritious regime is just fooling themselves. It is vital that all the people who are saying “why can’t I lose weight?” realize, first and foremost, that a healthy well balanced nutritious diet is the only way to proceed, not just for their immediate weight lose regime, but for life.


When a person tries a program that does give immediate results, they are given a sense of false security. Rapid weight loss is detrimental to your health and is unlikely ever to be sustained. Consuming low levels of calories as suggested by some diet regimes is basically a semi starvation diet and can cause loss of muscle from our organs including our heart. This is not a sensible plan.


When you do choose a weight loss program, be sure to do some research on it. Don’t accept the plan as the truth until you can find out how the program actually works. Always look for the scientific evidence to back up any diet you may choose to follow. And remember it is physiologically impossible to lose more than 2lb of fat a week. Any diet promising more than that is lying. You may however lose more weight than 2lb but it won’t be fat. It will either be water or muscle and most importantly your body will not be able to sustain that weight loss when you return to normal eating. So to answer the question “why can’t I lose weight?” it is likely to be because you are not eating enough of the right foods at the right time of day. It really is as simple as that.

When does our weight become a problem? I think we all know when we start to gain some extra weight but many of us usually don’t take any action to correct this situation until we are told to do so by a doctor. Our weight just seems to creep up on us. I find that when I look at a photograph of myself, I really notice the weight gain. By waiting to be told we need to lose weight is actually hurting our health, and it also is hurting our chances to successfully lose that extra weight. By this time our weight loss issue has become a major health concern.


The health field has done extensive research on how we gain and lose weight. The number of people requiring weight loss for health reasons has been growing each year, and those needing to lose weight are becoming younger and younger. The statistics concerning the general public’s health specifically surrounding being overweight has a huge impact on our health. The psychological consequences affect self-esteem and there is the risk of premature death as a result of diseases associated with obesity such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, respiratory problems and some cancers to list a few. A study completed in 2007 continues to validate what we already know. More and more people are becoming over-weight each year. The goal of most people is to be healthy, feel healthy and look healthy. And one of the most important things we can do to achieve all of these is to keep a healthy weight. Try to avoid it as much as possible, and remember many fruits have it so why not get it naturally. If you do have difficulty controlling your appetite and you want to snack, make it a healthy snack. But again, don’t go overboard. You have to control the amount of food intake on a daily basis to achieve weight loss. Another of the weight loss tips that is ignored by many people is to avoid fried foods. You’ll be amazed at how following this tip will help you lose weight.


One last piece of very good information. And this one if so important but can be one of the most difficult weight loss tips to follow. Exercise! It not only helps with weight loss but it is helps keep our entire body working properly. If you think you don’t have the time to exercise now, them down the road you’ll have to make time to correct the health problems that may develop. Make the time now to exercise in some way. You will notice that at no point have cakes, chocolates or any type of junk food been mentioned here as foods that make you lose weight. They are more than likely responsible for your weight gain. Some manufacturers that do not want to lose their customers to health alternatives have managed to produce low-fat versions of many favorites like low-fat ice-cream, cookies, mayonnaise and even dark chocolate but there are many others. It would be unfair to exclude everything that is nice from your weight loss diet but you should check the ingredients labels carefully on these products before you start using them.
