Why is maintaining a healthy weight such a problem for so many people and yet for others it is not even an issue. And we all know someone who can eat just about anything and never put on one extra pound, while some of us put on weight just looking at food. There are many different factors that come into play when one is trying to lose weight and to be successful we have to have the personal commitment that will get us to our goals.<br />

We need to eat to survive, and what we eat and how much we eat plays the most important role in our lives. Think about some of the foods we eat. They are so processed that most of the natural nutrients have been removed, and this certainly does not help the situation. Fast foods and a more sedentary lifestyle are responsible for more and more people becoming seriously overweight and needing to lose weight. More and more young people are being diagnosed as obese, and degenerative illnesses are becoming more prevalent amongst obese adults.<br />
<P><br />
As you are aware, more and more younger children are developing weight related problems. It is a reflection of our society and the life styles we have developed. There are many health problems resulting from being over weight. Obesity can lead to type 11 diabetes and heart disease and bad eating habits that develop in childhood are contributing to this growing trend amongst young people. The responsibility of parents for keeping their children healthy with regards to weight seems to have been lost somewhere along the way. Grapes and small pieces of fruit are popular with young children and dried fruit and nuts are also a good alternative to sweet treats.<br />

Habits are very difficult to break. For some reason we seem to have little difficulty developing habits because most of the time we are not even aware of the fact that we are forming a habit. The habits we form are difficult to change. If our children grow up eating the wrong foods it will be one of the most difficult changes they will have to make. Children who need to  lose weight do not have the benefit of healthy dietary habits to fall back on consequently they will find it very difficult to lose weight. All children should be encouraged to have a well balanced healthy diet with the correct balance of protein, fat and carbohydrate. There are many different factors that come into play when one is trying to lose weight and to be successful we have to have the personal commitment that will get us to our goals.<br />

We need to eat to survive, and what we eat and how much we eat plays the most important role in our lives. Think about some of the foods we eat. They are so processed that most of the natural nutrients have been removed, and this certainly does not help the situation. Fast foods and a more sedentary lifestyle are responsible for more and more people becoming seriously overweight and needing to lose weight. More and more young people are being diagnosed as obese, and degenerative illnesses are becoming more prevalent amongst obese adults.<br />

As you are aware, more and more younger children are developing weight related problems. It is a reflection of our society and the life styles we have developed. There are many health problems resulting from being over weight. Avoid salad dressings as they are high in fat and calories. Ask for fresh lemon wedges and squeeze the juice over your salad and raw vegetables. 3. Avoid the buffet style meals at all costs! Buffet style is the most affordable meals served today, but they are very rich in calories, and the fried foods should be avoided at all cost. You should try to avoid eating any type of meals prepared in oil or fat. Grilled meals are great, but only small portions. It boils down to marketing and every company promotes their information. I have found many companies to be honest and straight forward, while other&#8217;s really are lying to you. I would like to believe that the lies haven&#8217;t been told on purpose, and I am sure that in many cases that wasn&#8217;t the intention. There is a lot of misinformation around that many people have taken to be the truth, and the medical profession in their ignorance of most matters to do with nutrition, have been party to these untruths. The food industry is as much to blame as anybody else. Now we are told that hydrogenated polyunsaturated fats are harmful to our bodies and we are being advised to avoid them.<br />

The dieter&#8217;s saving grace has been the fact that even though they were on a diet they could still have sweet tasting food and drink by using artificial sweeteners. We now discover that these sweeteners are nothing but a batch of chemicals. Not only are they thought to interfere with the body&#8217;s ability to gauge the calorific or sugar content of food but they also slow the body&#8217;s use of food. Could it be then that artificial sweeteners can make us fat? It has been suggested that Americans who consume large quantities of fizzy diet drinks are more likely to gain weight than to lose weight. The thought is that because the sweeteners prevent the body from gauging the calorific value of the food required they have a tendency to over eat<br />

Artificial sweeteners are just another example of man&#8217;s inability to fully understand the human body. Our bodies do not function optimally on chemicals. Health problems begin to develop and if they are not addressed there will be dire consequences. Some people will do almost anything to lose weight. They will jump from one plan to the next hoping to find that miracle program that will somehow melt the pounds away. From the purchase of exercise gear that will make you drop those extra pounds in less than five minutes a day to the latest fad diet that says you shouldn&#8217;t eat anything, those who need to lose weight are desparate. People are searching the Internet looking for the answer to the question, &#8220;<A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net">Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</A>?&#8221;<br />

Have you ever looked at some of the so-called diet plans that are available? It will amaze you at what people are trying to pass of as weight loss plans. How crazy can diets get? How about getting injections of a pregnant woman&#8217;s urine? Or eating nothing but cabbage soup? Has the world gone mad or are they just having a laugh at our expense.<br />
If we are to take the question &#8220;<B>Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>?&#8221; seriously then we need to look at how that person has tried to lose weight in the past. If they have tried fad diet after fad diet and wanted to lose weight quickly then maybe that would be the first place to start.<br />

We all know someone who is trying to lose weight, or is planning to go on a diet soon. Maybe it is even you that is in this situation. I recently had someone ask me that very question: &#8220;<B>Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>&#8220;? When we looked at her diet it was low in calories and low in protein. But what the person asking the question couldn&#8217;t understand was, she had been eating almost half the amount of food she normally ate and she still wasn&#8217;t losing weight.<br />

The Internet is a wealth of information, but you have to be wary of the source. Without a doubt there is some information that is simply untrue. There is so much misleading information around on weight loss that it is no wonder there is total confusion. The sooner people realise that they will not lose weight permanently on a fad diet that either concentrates on one food, promises amazing weight loss in 7 days or suggests that you need to cut calories to lose weight, the sooner people will stop asking &#8220;<B>Why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>&#8220;?<br />
<P><br />
Most people that attempt to lose weight, don&#8217;t understand how the body works. They fail to learn how the body functions with regards to weight gain and weight loss. It seems to me that the majority of people who have a chronic weight problem have been doing something wrong. They have either been eating the wrong foods or simply eating too much and probably too late in the day.  Anyone who thinks that they can lose weight by embarking on a fad diet that is far from being a well balanced nutritious regime is just fooling themselves. It is vital that all the  people who are saying &#8220;<B>why can&#8217;t I lose weight</B>?&#8221; realize, first and foremost, that a healthy well balanced nutritious diet is the only way to proceed, not just for their immediate weight lose regime, but for life.<br />

When a person tries a program that does give immediate results, they are given a sense of false security. Rapid weight loss is detrimental to your health and is unlikely ever to be sustained. Consuming low levels of calories as suggested by some diet regimes is basically a semi starvation diet and can cause loss of muscle from our organs including our heart. This is not a sensible plan.<br />

When you do choose a weight loss program, be sure to do some research on it. Don&#8217;t accept the plan as the truth until you can find out how the program actually works. Always look for the scientific evidence to back up any diet you may choose to follow. And remember it is physiologically impossible to lose more than 2lb of fat a week. Any diet promising more than that is lying. You may however lose more weight than 2lb but it won&#8217;t be fat. It will either be water or muscle and most importantly your body will not be able to sustain that weight loss when you return to normal eating. So to answer the question &#8220;<A HREF="http://healthy-weight-loss-programs.net">why can&#8217;t I lose weight</A>?&#8221; it is likely to be because you are not eating enough of the right foods at the right time of day.
